On a previous post I showed pictures of Lily getting her stitches removed, but failed to say or show how she got them. We went on a trip over Thanksgiving weekend (details on the next post) with some friends from church. One of the stops we made was to see a lighthouse. We went at night so we could get the full affect of the lighthouse. It was really neat to see one up close and personal. At the bottom of the lighthouse is a statue that is made out of metal. Of coarse it was dark and the kids were running around playing. We knew one of the kids would eventually fall and get hurt so it was no surprise when we heard someone crying. It only took a few seconds for me to realize it was my kid, Lily. Lily tends to be a bit of a drama queen, so I didn't go rushing to her side when I looked over and saw her on the ground. My friend Meredith and I kinda took our time walking to her. Meredith picked her up and out of the moonlight, we saw some blood coming down her face. I quickly handed Cade off to Meredith and grabbed Lily to asses the situation. I notice the blood is coming from a cut on her forehead. I didn't think it was too bad even though there was a lot of blood. Head wounds bleed a lot.....right????
At this point I am feeling like the worst mother in the world because I didn't run to her aid. To make matter worse, I didn't have any Kleenex in my pockets to stop the bleeding. I'm not a very prepared mother. I put my glove on her head to try and stop the bleeding. I ask someone to get Tyler who is up the stairs at the light house and Brother Bingham who happens to be a ER doctor.
We move Lily into the parking lot to get more light. Remember, it's dark out and no lights except the light house. Maybe we should have climbed up to the top and used the light from it. But, then we would probably go blind, so not such a good idea. Tyler comes running, but there is no Brother Bingham. Where in the world is the doctor?? Oh yeah, he is on crutches. He had to run, on his crutches, down the stairs, to get to us. What a great guy. He finally get to us and we see that it is a HUGE cut. He advises that we hurry to the ER. NICE!! Our wonderful relaxing trip now takes us to a Korean ER!!
Sean & Jihyun Knudsen took Tyler and Lily to the ER. Once again, we are indebted to the Knudsen Family. I don't know that we will ever be able to repay them!! It turns out that the cut went all the way to the bone and Lily required 2 internal stitches and 5 external stitches. She was a trooper through the whole thing. Tyler said the Korean doctors did a great job and actually spoke English. The best part was the ER visit cost about $115!!!!! That included visit, stitches, pain medicine & antibiotics! I LOVE KOREA!!!
Here is the beautiful lighthouse

Here is the not so beautiful statue. The black ring around the bottom is actually a step.
It's hard to see that in the dark and that is what Lily tripped on and fell.

Here is Lily on her way to the ER
Here is Lily getting her stitches. What a trooper!!

The day before, Hailey Knudsen fell and got hurt also. Thank goodness she didn't have to make a trip to the ER, but she still had a nasty hurt. These two are like two peas in a pod!!
