Old Friends

We had the opportunity to visit a few old friends in Sumter, South Carolina. What a blast. We had a great time introducing Lily to some very dear friends. It was fun trying to explain to Lily that Daddy and Mommy use to live in Sumter. She couldn't understand why she didn't live there too. As we drove by Shaw AFB I pointed out the jets. I asked her if she knew what plane it was. I don't know what I was thinking, because of coarse she did. She proudly said "F16". Daddy taught her well!! Anyway, she looked at me and said, "Daddy's airclane (there's no "p" in the word for Lily)!" I was so excited that she knew. However, she thought that is where Daddy was on his work trip. She was so excited at the thought that we were going to see Daddy. I felt horrible when I had to crush her hopes by telling her that he wasn't there right now. I tried to explain to her that he worked there a long time ago. She was quite sad. She sure does love her Daddy.

We loved seeing some old friends. Tyler and I loved our time at Shaw AFB a couple years ago. We were very fortunate to make some great friends while we lived there.

SMORES

We taught Lily the fine art of making smores. She went crazy. She loved roasting the marshmallows and really loved eating them. She ate so many that I'm surprised she didn't get sick. I couldn't help myself because she was having so much fun. Kids should have their first roasted marshmallow and smores before the age of 5.

Like most people, Lily is serious business when it comes to food. Sometimes we have to remind her to smile when she is having fun. I promise, she really is enjoying herself!!

Hard At Work

Lily is learning how to grow stuff in Papa's garden. Last night Papa and Lily planted green beans. She had a great time throwing out the rocks, digging the rows, planting the seeds and covering them up. Papa says the beans will be ready to pick by the time we leave this summer. Lily will be excited to see her hard work pay off. Except she doesn't like green beans.

Lily also got to go for a ride in our neighbors tractor. He is clearing some trees and he took her for a ride and let her help. She was nervous at first but had a great time. She asked the poor guy a million questions wanting to know how everything worked. I think she likes the country life.

First Blog

Well, this is my very first blog. I'm a little nervous because my sister-in-law, Ali, is the queen of blogging and I feel pressure to try and be as good as her. I've got to be honest with myself and know that it's not going to happen. Actually she is the one that has inspired (or pressured me) to start blogging. Is that even a word? I live a boring life, so I'm not sure how exciting this is going to be.

Lily and I are currently visiting my family in Tennessee and we are having a great time. Lily has been able to meet so many new people. She has had the most fun with her cousins, Abigail, Sophia & Bella. She has waited a long time to meet them.

Yesterday was a big day for Lily as we introduced her to Dollywood. Bella went with us since she is a seasoned pro on all the good rides. She told us which ones to go on and she sure did know her stuff. They went on the Shooting Star and the Veggie Tales roller coaster about 12 times each. The old men that work at these rides were so sweet and had fun watching them go on them over and over. They also had a great time eating their cotten candy. According to Bella, this is all they had to eat. At least that's what she told Ali. I think Lily would live at Dollywood if she could. She wants to go there everyday and I might consider this because she slept for 12 hours last night. YEAH!!!
